Three months ago I canceled my cable TV service, and I'm still watching all my favorite shows free and on-demand from my living room couch thanks to Apple TV and Boxee. Apple TV is set-top box w/remote control that connects your TV to the internet, and Boxee is free software for the Apple TV that plays almost any video content from providers like Hulu, CNN, Comedy Central, CBS, BCC, Netflix, MTV, Last.fm, and even files stored on your local network.

The Apple TV sells for around $200, and since I'm saving $60/month without that cable TV subscription, it pays for itself after 3 1/2 months. Throw in an $11 Radio Shack antenna for live local channels and who needs cable anymore?
